Phillips Student Council with their leader Mrs. Ellefson, have been busy sorting donated non-perishable food items for our annual food drive. The Alzheimer’s Association stopped in today and donated turkeys for our food drive. Thank you to everyone for supporting Phillips families during the holiday season.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Phillips annual Food Drive begins Monday, Oct. 27th and ends on Friday, Nov. 14th. Students may bring non-perishable food items and place them in boxes provided in their classrooms. Each classroom will be competing for extra recess. There will be a chart placed in the cafeteria showing how many donated food items each classroom has brought in. Thank you for your generosity.

ABC Certificates

Kindergarten students are learning the alphabet. Mrs. Stone-Flomo awards her students with a certificate when they have mastered the ABC’s. Students came to Mrs. Fitzgerald’s office to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment. We are proud of our students!

DMPS, Parks & Rec Partner for Basketball

Des Moines Parks and Recreation and Des Moines Public Schools are partnering to offer a youth basketball league for the 2014-2015 season. The program is for students in grades 1st through 7th. Secure Doors At Phillips

Security doors have been installed at Phillips. The office door will be locked from 8:15 am to 3:00 pm. When parents or students need to enter the office there is a doorbell you may ring to notify staff.
